what comes next?

I have really loved having the goal of running a half marathon in 2013. It gave me something tangible to work towards and kept me accountable. Now that my half marathon has been achieved, I would like to set a new goal (or a few new goals). Here are a few of my thoughts...

1) Up my weights in BodyPump - I started attending BodyPump classes over a year ago and haven't really upped my weight a whole lot. I determined what weight was appropriate for all of the different muscle groups by watching the instructor and my classmates, and I have kind of become comfortable with that. I'll be honest - I don't love lifting weights so I don't really feel motivated to do more than go through the motions. I went through half marathon training knowing that weight training is important, but I didn't want to overdo it and compromise my runs by getting sore. I'd like to change this by really challenging myself during BodyPump.

2) Work on my diet - I eat way too much. I always have, and I really need to get it under control. I don't want to go on a "diet" or set limits on myself that I know I can't stick to, but I really want to focus more on fueling my body as opposed to eating because it's fun or because I'm bored. I'd also like to make a commitment to buying a better variety of food each week so that I don't get bored and go out instead of eating at home - I love smoothies for breakfast, but I am getting to the point where I don't want them everyday. Same thing with really good salads...I need to work in more variety so I don't give up on creating my own meals. I usually show up to the grocery store without a plan which usually makes me end up buying the same thing week after week. If I put some planning into my trip beforehand I think it would help. I also want to get a rice cooker so that I can fill up on healthy grains...I can never seem to cook them to my liking on the stove so I think a rice cooker will help me eat more brown rice, quinoa, etc...

3) Abs- my abs are horrifyingly weak. I also think I'm a giant baby when it comes to working them, which plays a role. I need to look into ab work that I can do at home a few times a week so try to strengthen this very important part of my body!
